The Freebie centers on Darren (Shepard) and Annie (Aselton), a young married couple with an enviable relationship built on love trust and communication. When a dinner party conversation leads to an honest discussion about the state of their love life, and when a sexy bikini photo shoot leads to crossword puzzles instead of sex, they begin to flirt with a way to spice things up. 肉身肌肤上的疮口或许可以随年日慢慢被治愈，但内心里的惊惧忧虑却会一再撕裂，久久不得安心。在睡梦中、在神游中、在散漫的日常生活所有的琐碎当中，一而再再而三地想起从前身困囹圄，心困炼狱的往事。用鱼眼镜头展示出残酷的狱中记忆，如梦似幻，昏昏沉沉，惶惑、迷乱而惊悸。每逢赌场，必有叫喊令人两耳鸣叫的“USA”，暗自嘲讽。这是本片仅有的，乏善可陈的亮点之一二。其余部分实在是索然无味。不知是模仿了谁，是索菲亚·科波拉还是王家卫，风格不成风格，故事不成故事。涉及牌的玩法，想必对于早看过香港电影的人而言，未免显得太过于小儿科了。
