The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 挺有创意的一部剧，演员演技也在线，遗憾的是剧情有点儿bug，既然克隆人合法化了，为什么法律似乎还不是很健全，克隆流程也想菜市场买菜一样，后面决斗这种设定是所有机构不愿意承担责任，开始摆烂吧，所以让当事人和克隆体自己解决。。。
等了七年终于盼来第四集了。总体感觉（由观感最佳到一般，很庆幸这一次没有像第三集一样有拍的特别差劲离谱的）：The Subject>The Empty Wake>Storm Drain>Holy Hell>Terror>The Veggie Mesher（草，搅碎机广告都算单独一节）。①总线感觉一般，倒是特警队进入仓库时里面的各种诡异陈设很抢眼，还有这次终于不是一两个记者或作死少年闯空门了；②下水道鼠人，电台放送元素的加入很新奇（当时看完Local58就想着这一部会不会出现类似设定，结果还真有了）；③守夜人与离奇复活的尸体，气氛营造最强的一组，就是有点烂尾；④邪典与科幻要素Timo老师玩儿得飞起，最喜欢的一章；④最后一组前戏长的差点让我睡着；并且感觉这章也没算是跑题，做得很有上世纪邪教纪录片的感觉。不知道第五集要等多久才能看到。

典型的小成本制作，影片故事的属性应该算是黑色系，也算是从克隆体入手，探讨了人伦、爱情以及关于复制体的社会关系。
低成本好片，探讨人生，女主演技赞。让人思考回味的结局。唏嘘……人心不足蛇吞象……
概念不错 克隆人的伦理难题 只能选择决斗二选一 通篇都是为了决斗准备 最后克隆体想在森林里毒死本体 然而被本体反杀 最后活下来的事本体 那个破碎的手机屏幕已经暗示的很清楚了 之前在停车场摔碎的 所以最后的结局很凄凉 本体反而要假装是克隆体来迎合所有人活下去 感觉还是不错的片子 结尾很加分 不过故事确实单调

不够爽，不够深刻，不够暴力，不够血腥,什么想要的结果就是什么也得不到。
故事一气呵成，看似简单易懂，背后的寓意和深度很多层面因人而异…细思极恐～
没注意居然是星云演的。 最后活下来的显然是本体， 否则是不可能在车里哭的。
结局稍有遗憾，我还以为她会继续继承sarah的新生活呢，没想到是和他给sarah用的心理战术的人说的一样痛苦的活着，悲伤的承受了
被骗了。。。还以为能看美女决斗。。。没想到只有阴谋和欺骗。。。PS：不要低估一颗想活下去的克隆心。。。

人性中的善良同情成为生存的绊脚石，恰恰是哪些残忍、尔虞我诈、弱肉强食、、、
感觉最后活着的如果是本体，暴风哭泣更有说服力。但是本体的话，最后环岛逆行又怎么解释……
前面很不错，结局有点突然和欠味道。凯伦·吉兰好像没以前好看了。

为“星云”凯伦吉兰小姐姐看得！颇有人生哲理性，本体与复制体的生存！以为偷走了别人的人生，也许别人的人生还不如自己！片尾讨论活着的究竟是本体还是复制体，个人觉得是本体！圆型车道如同人生一样，其实是在不停的转来转去！格斗教练说“可以用别的方式付款！”，看到脱衣想“肉肉”的，都有哪些人？
