The Freebie centers on Darren (Shepard) and Annie (Aselton), a young married couple with an enviable relationship built on love trust and communication. Darren and Annie still enjoy each other’s company and laugh at each other’s jokes, but, unfortunately, they can’t remember the last time they had sex. When a dinner party conversation leads to an honest discussion about the state of their love life, and when a sexy bikini photo shoot leads to crossword puzzles instead of sex, they begin to flirt with a way to spice things up. The deal: one night of freedom, no strings attached, no questions asked. Could a freebie be the cure for their ailing sex life? And will they go through with it? With a keen eye and fresh take, Aselton’s directorial debut shines with crisp storytelling and fine-tuned performances. 我认为思考赵婷的电影为什么体现不出中国元素这个命题毫无意义。这个电影能得奖本身就是后金融危机情况下人们自发远离现代社会的一种回应。摄影搞得不错，拍的很舒缓优美。音乐有一点泛滥但是选的不错。但是能得这么多奖就有点莫名其妙了，电影世界后继无人。我感觉赵婷的电影表达的只剩一些残片，没有什么值得一提的东西，拾人牙慧，老一套。
赵婷身兼数职的确保证了个人表达的一致性，但也因此而失去了更好的可能，至少在剪辑方面是有一些可以改善的地方的。
她的无助、孤独，都随着内心对大自然的吸收而逐渐消散，即使同住的人不在了，依旧能回到最初的平静和幸福。赵婷，不简单。
真正的诗意，隐藏在老无所依的边缘之地，属于无所依遁的边缘之人。
