The Freebie centers on Darren (Shepard) and Annie (Aselton), a young married couple with an enviable relationship built on love trust and communication. 本以为会是一部可以摆脱黑人受压迫、受歧视的控诉式翻拍，会是一部“黑”天鹅似的失掉自我的艺术家惊悚改编，但终究还是落入《绝命镇》《我们》《他们》的窠臼。也不知何时何地给这些黑人恐怖宇宙赋予了隆重的使命感，以至于不谈论一些受压迫的历史就难以成立。政治诉求过重真是最近几年黑人恐怖宇宙最令人厌烦的地方。
